For those who aren’t familiar, can you tell us a bit about what Haus of Ops does and what makes your approach different?

We’re senior fractional operations and HR leaders. We embed seamlessly into businesses to support their people, processes, and plans without requiring full-time overhead. That means helping teams hire smarter, implement tools, and build internal structures that can support their next phase of growth. We’re passionate about helping people and big believers that business can be fun. The goal to leave a business better than we found it is what makes us excited to get out of bed every morning!

From our experience, you can roll out the best plans, processes and tools - but if you haven’t accounted for how your people will be impacted, then your operations will fail. We help our clients navigate this, and maximize their investment by genuinely caring about their people, and their business.

What inspired your team to choose Path as your home base?

It was a natural evolution for us, as it seemed like all 'paths' kept leading back to Path! We kept finding ourselves booking meeting rooms here for our client meetings. As a growing business, the coffee shop client meetings and 100% virtual working environment was starting to become a challenge. We loved the space and the warm, inviting environment we felt every time we came in. It’s been amazing to have a workspace where we can all collaborate as a team, as well as meet other great businesses in the community!

Operations and HR aren’t always the flashiest parts of a business—how do you keep things human and creative in your work?

It’s funny because for us, operations feels like the perfect space to be creative! Although there is always a typical business structure, we have found that every business has a very unique mix of opportunities, challenges and personnel personalities. We like to think of ops as the quiet backbone that holds everything together.

Every solution we design is custom, which allows us to constantly flex our creative muscles by applying our experience and skills across new industries and challenges.  We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. Instead, we collaborate with the people who actually use the tools or structures we’re building. That’s how we make ops and HR feel like support, not red tape.

With so many changes in workplace culture post-pandemic, what key trends or shifts have you noticed in how businesses approach operations now?

More businesses have an increased willingness to try a different approach. We are observing the continued emphasis on modernizing outdated systems by digitizing and leveraging new tech. It doesn't matter if you are rolling out a completely different hybrid or remote work model, or just introducing the team to a new process platform - the rise of digital tools has made operations and HR more agile, but also created decision fatigue. We’re seeing a real appetite for fractional guidance: what tools to use, how to manage remote culture, how to scale without losing the human element. That’s where we come in!

What’s one thing industry-related or not that your team has learned in the last few months?

We’ve learned to slow down to go fast. Growth can feel like a sprint, but sustainable businesses are built on solid systems. Taking the time with our clients to pause, plan, and be intentional about next moves is worth it every time.

What advice would you give to founders or teams feeling overwhelmed operationally and aren't sure how to get their internal systems organized?

First off, acknowledge that you are not alone and that this is an area that businesses constantly need to work on! Start small. List your top 1–3 bottlenecks or challenges, then break them each down into bite-sized action items. Be honest about why you’re saying, “yes”and where you might need to say “no.” Make sure you get real clear on what you are saying "no" to, because you can’t do it all at once!

Also talk to a trusted partner (a mentor, a business peer or even our team) to gain outside perspective. Getting outside perspective can be game-changing! Someone who is emotionally removed and experienced in this area can identify issues and offer solutions you might not have even considered. Joining networks like your local business Chamber of Commerce, industry associations or organizations focused on supporting entrepreneurs like Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK) are a great way to build your own business support network.

What’s next for Haus of Ops?

We’ve recently added full fractional HR services and are collaborating with Mary Reimer, Founder of Ready Executive to offer Executive Coaching for founders and managers. As a bigger picture initiative, we are passionate about raising up the women around us - from the business owner to the mom (or the hybrid model of both!), so stay tuned for what we do in this space!

As we are on our own growth journey, we’d love it if people want to follow along on LinkedIn.
